The Brief History of Arley Railway Station:-
The station was built together with the line in 1862 and opened on one Feb that year. The 1st signal box was built in the year of 1883, and the platform built to accommodate 6 coach trains. The local transport wishes were met quite adequately, as the local roads and trails were, to say the least, primitive. Passenger trade was busiest with summer vacation visitors, and Arley provided a home to a tiny products yard.
Opened on the first Severn Valley Line run from the outset by the Great Western Train line , the station stayed with that company in the Grouping of 1923, passing on to the Western Area of UK Railways in the nationalisation of 1948.It was later closed by the English Transport Commission. Though thought by some individuals to have once been closed as an element of the Beeching axe in 1963 its planned closure pre-dated his report. The station closed on 9 Sep 1963. The passing loop was taken out, sidings cut up with only Alveley coal traffic surviving. In 1969 the line thru Arley ultimately became disused.
